Pizza Disillusa is a pizza covered with cigarette butts on a pedestal of pizza boxes. It is reminiscent of a desecrated buffet found the morning after the party: the result of apathy and arrogance, risen from the hedonistic state of intoxication of an all-night group excess. The unhinged party stands as a metaphor for an unhinged and unpredictable system. A 'crisis pizza' adequate to the omnipresent imbalances of the 21st century: financial crisis, climate crisis, health crisis, existential crisis. Given these predicaments, what resources will we have left in the foreseeable future?
The historical distortion of tobacco’s original role—from a sacred, ritualistic plant to a mass-produced commodity—reflects themes of exploitation, cultural appropriation, and capitalist domination to which Indigenous communities were exposed in the wake of colonization.
Pizza Disillusa is a homage to a social and economic system that has long since ceased to function globally, in which the future belongs only to those who can afford it, while the unprivileged eat frozen pizza through the domination mechanisms of addictions and burnouts.
Pizza is fast food for the working man.
The working class is fast food for capitalism.
Fast, cheap, rich in calories.

Pizza Disillusa ist eine mit Zigarettenstummeln bedeckte Pizza auf einem Sockel aus Pizzakartons. Sie erinnert an ein am Morgen nach der Party vorgefundenes, geschändetes Buffet: Resultat von Apathie und Arroganz, entsprungen aus dem hedonistischen Rauschzustand eines nächtlichen Gruppenexzesses. Die aus den Fugen geratene Party steht als Metapher für ein aus den Fugen geratenes und unberechenbares System. Eine ‚Krisenpizza’ adäquat zu den allgegenwärtigen Schieflagen des 21. Jahrhunderts: Finanzkrise, Klimakrise, Gesundheitskrise, Existenzkrise. Welche Ressourcen werden uns in Anbetracht dieser Notlagen in absehbarer Zeit noch übrig geblieben sein?
Die historische Verzerrung der ursprünglichen Rolle des Tabaks – von einer heiligen, rituellen Pflanze zu einer massenproduzierten Ware – spiegelt die Themen Ausbeutung, kulturelle Aneignung und kapitalistische Dominanz wider, denen die indigenen Gemeinschaften im Zuge der Kolonisierung ausgesetzt waren.
Pizza Disillusa ist eine Hommage an ein global längst nicht mehr funktionierendes Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftssystem, in dem die Zukunft nur denen gehört, die es sich leisten können, während die Unprivilegierten durch die Herrschaftsmechanismen von Abhängigkeiten und Burnouts Tiefkühlpizza essen.
Die Pizza ist das Fast Food des Arbeiters.
Die Arbeiterklasse ist Fast Food für den Kapitalismus.
Schnell, günstig, kalorienreich.
